Camila Montoya

Paralegal

Professional Experience:

Camila Montoya is one of our superstar Paralegals. However, that title does not come close to describing Mrs. Montoya’s exceptional credentials and life experience.

As an Austin native, Camila found her passion for law in 2013 while working for the Legal Division of Austin 311 Code Compliance. Seeing how the law was a puzzle that can help or harm people depending on how well they understood it, Ms. Montoya set her goal of graduating from law school. With this goal she set her plans on how to achieve it.

Ms. Montoya knew her true passion was Criminal Law so she set her goal to get a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice knowing it will help her as a Criminal Defense Attorney once she becomes a lawyer. Not one to stop when she has her mind set on something, Ms. Montoya graduated in 2016 with her degree.

Knowing the importance of having a background outside of being an attorney when representing clients, Ms. Montoya has decided to work as a paralegal while studying for the Law School Admissions Test. Prior to joining Stephen T Bowling & Associates: DWI & Criminal Defense Lawyers, Ms. Montoya worked with another criminal defense firm where she was responsible for managing the case load for two attorneys.

Criminal defense law has prevailed throughout her work experience allowing her to build an extensive background and familiarity within the field. This experience leads perfect into Ms. Montoya’s current role of managing our court calendar, ensuring appropriate motions are filed, and day to day questions from clients at the office. In addition, she assists our attorneys with extensive reviews of discovery and evidence, including tape recordings, video recordings, lab reports, and other scientific and ballistic evidence.

In fact, when you call the office Ms. Montoya is usually the first person you will speak with after the receptionist.
